How It All Started

R.T. Stearns, Inc. was founded in 1985 by Dick Stearns and his wife Pat. Dick’s entrepreneurial energy and undeterred passion for problem solving helped to grow the business to a level that allowed him to focus solely on fire pumps and fire pump controls.

With the addition of his son Peter and Peter’s wife Marcy, the team worked to provide product offerings to meet and exceed the growing demands of the fire protection industry. Patterson Fire Pumps have proven to be the backbone to that product portfolio, to work in lock-step with Dick’s original ethos of “making it right” throughout the sales process; from specification to final acceptance test.

Dick’s spirit still connects to all aspects of our business as we continue to grow and strive to be the proven partner for all of our customer’s fire pump needs.
